Leigha A. Sharp, M.D.

Leigha Sharp, MD was born and raised in Austin, Texas. She watched her family overcome personal and professional obstacles, and through those experiences, she developed a strong drive and determination to follow her dreams. Armed with deep compassion and desire to help people, she was the first in her family to enter the medical profession. Dr. Sharp graduated from the University of Texas in Austin with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. She practiced as a pediatric registered nurse in Denver, Colorado, before attending medical school at Paul L. Foster School of Medicine, Texas Tech Health Sciences Center in El Paso, Texas.

Dr. Sharp was in the top 10th percentile of her medical school class and was inducted into both highly esteemed honors societies: Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society and the Gold Humanism Honors Society. She also received a Masters in Public Health while attending medical school. She completed her intern year in Internal Medicine at the University of Texas Dell Medical School.
Dr. Sharp completed her Dermatology residency training at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center and served as Chief Resident in Lubbock, Texas. She is dedicated to life-long learning and evidence based medicine.
Dr. Sharp enjoys treating all dermatologic conditions in every age group. She is trained in medical, surgical, and cosmetic dermatology. Her special interests include skin cancer prevention and treatment, and adult and pediatric medical dermatology. Dr. Sharp prides herself in patient-centered care and building meaningful relationships with her patients to treat all of their skin concerns.
When Dr. Sharp is not working, she loves spending time with her family and her furbabies. She is excited to serve her hometown community with Southwest Dermatology.
