Dr. Scott grew up in rural Mississippi and has practiced dermatology in Tennessee, Ohio and Minnesota prior to moving to Central Texas. She understands life in the country, with sun-drenched work and sun-drenched fun. She is excited to serve her patients as part of the Southwest Dermatology & Vein physician team.
Dr. Scott values sitting with patients to discuss their goals for their health and planning a treatment specific to each patient’s unique needs. She believes education provides the foundation that patient’s need to care for their skin. Empowering patients to understand their skin helps them be engaged in the success of their treatment plans.
Dr. Scott received her undergraduate bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry, graduating magna cum laude, from Rhodes College. She later attended medical school at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center. Dr Scott was awarded the Dr. Hand Scholarship as a medical student, which is awarded for excellence in scholarship, professionalism and humanism, during her clinical training years. She completed her internship training in pediatrics at LeBonheur Children’s Hospital in Memphis, TN.
Dr. Scott completed her dermatology residency at the University of Tennessee Health
Science Center and served as Chief Resident in her final year. During her training, she became proficient in evaluating and treating skin disorders afflicting all ages and skin types, and in the years since has continued her medical education in medical and procedural dermatology.
Dr. Scott has been an active volunteer throughout her career, serving as the President of the Memphis Dermatology Society and as a Physician Lead with the Walk with a Doc program in Cleveland, OH. In addition, she has participated as a health careers mentor for both Waconia High School in MN and at Rhodes College in TN. One highlight of her volunteer activities has been in medical missions in Peru. Wherever she has lived, Dr. Scott has given back to her community with volunteerism and leadership.
Dr. Scott’s dermatology interests include rashes like eczema, psoriasis, blistering diseases, acne, dermatitis, and others. She has over twenty years of experience in diagnosing and treating skin cancers. Dr. Scott values the doctor-patient relationship which is unique for each patient. Tailoring a treatment plan for the individual patient is her everyday practice.
Dr. Scott spends her free time learning to play guitar, exercising, reading, and floating
on the Blanco River just down the road from Dripping Springs. She and her husband
moved to Central Texas recently and have three adult children who enjoy visiting family here and the beauty of the Hill Country.
